Activities for rainy days

Tents and cabins

All children like to get involved in the construction of tents or cabins. I know it’s no fun folding the sheets and blankets, but the hours of playtime are well worth the extra effort! Provide some sheets, blankets, or boxes for your children to create a tent or a cabin. You can then surprise them with fruit skewers and marshmallows roasted in the open fire for a fun scout camp-style snack.

Cache cache

Relying on the period of the kids, you can change the rules a bit. You can divide players into teams, play in the dark, or hide objects instead of people. You can also add points and rewards for a more competitive search. Other variants of hiding and seek !!

Mattress jumps

My son loves to take the mattress out of his bedroom and start jumping and rolling. Choose an area away from your favorite fragile objects and lay the bed on the floor where your children can do jumps and other rolls. You can even stack two or three mattresses for more fun!!

Painting

Choose washable paints and let your kids make masterpieces. You could buy piggy banks or other ceramic or wooden objects to paint if you have the funds. Finger painting is a hit with toddlers!

Cuisine

Are you keen to try out some holiday recipes? Involve your children! Sure, it will take you a little longer to cook. But your kids will love the opportunity. To learn recipes and spend time with you – they’ll learn skills and love tasting the ingredients! Some ideas for children’s recipes.

Lecture

Choose a book you like and share it with your children. Many children (young and old) want to cuddle with mom or dad and listen to an exciting story. Books without pictures are an adventure for older children. Because they can imagine and create the scenes in their minds. The little ones will savor the images of a fairy tale or a story about animals!!

Puzzles

It’s a great way to entertain and keep kids calm. All the kids can get involved. You can give them some directions and cook dinner. If you have time, sit down and enjoy creating the masterpiece with them. It’s a fun way to encourage siblings to work together to achieve a goal. Choose puzzles with their favorite characters or images that interest them. Keep the number of pieces at a child-friendly level.

Costumes and parade

Keep a collection of clothes handy. Hats, glasses, wigs, and scarves are always fun for the imagination. You don’t have to run off and purchase overpriced costumes. Let your kids’ creativity soar. They will choose different items to create their unique costume. They will then be able to present you with a musical parade of their clothing creations!!

Ball games

Inflate some balloons and play volleyball, hot potato, and other creative games. Be sure to discard popped balloons immediately to avoid choking hazards for the little ones!!
What rainy day activities do you enjoy with your kids during the fall and winter months? I would adore hearing around them in the remarks area!
