JMMI provides for the poor, those in need
Humanitarian outreach is standard for many ministries. What sets David E. Taylor and Joshua Media Ministries International (JMMI) apart is the origin story.
In 1989, David E. Taylor was living a gang lifestyle on the streets of Memphis, Tennessee. He was a senior in high school, smoking marijuana, partying, involved with drug dealers and in shoot outs. One night, during the Christmas season, Jesus appeared to him in a dream, forever changing the course of his life.
David E. Taylor compares his conversion to the biblical account of Jesus appearing to Paul on the road to Damascus, radically converting him in Acts 9. From that day forward, he took to ministering and evangelizing to everyone who would listen to him. Whether it was students at school or homeless people on the street, ministry became his life.
Since the inception of his ministry, David E. Taylor has been dedicated to giving back and meeting the needs of people of all walks of life both spiritually and physically. What started with providing basic necessities to homeless living on the streets when he was young has turned into large partnerships with charitable organizations and government entities to provide meals, clothes, toys, and more to those in need.
One of the biggest outreach events is the yearly Christmas Toy Giveaway. For nearly 30 years, David E. Taylor has purchased thousands of toys and gifts for children in need. The Christmas season is special to him, as it is when Jesus first appeared to him, and he wants to make sure no child feels left out during this time. Gifts are provided to children in foster care, hospitals, inner cities, and other less fortunate areas.
Another annual event is the Thanksgiving Turkey Drive where David E. Taylor and JMMI partner with the R. Whittington Foundation to distribute turkey dinners for families in need to enjoy a holiday meal.
In addition to donating and providing food, clothes and other necessities, David E. Taylor has launched the Convoy of Miracles, a fleet of 18-wheeler trucks that are equipped with disaster relief materials and aid and sent out to places across America that suffer natural disasters or similar circumstances. The latest aid was sent to Kentucky for the tornado relief in December 2021.
