4 Brand-Building Tips on Using Instagram for Your Business

How to Create a Powerful Instagram Social Media Marketing Strategy

One of the most powerful marketing tools that marketers have today is a social media platform. From Facebook posts to tweets on Twitter, sharing your products or services on social media is a great way to increase brand awareness, engagement, sales, and leads. However, many people are left scratching their heads when it comes to Instagram marketing.

Many of us use Instagram as a personal account to post photos of our family, friends, holidays, and food – but how can that be related to business? And should it?

With the speed at which Instagram is growing, do not underestimate its value in order to improve your brand and marketing efforts.

It has grown into an incredibly important marketing platform and although 18-29-year-olds are still regular users, older age groups participate and earn faster.

If you find yourself struggling to explore Instagram as part of your social media marketing strategy, check out these tips to help you get started:

1. Use Hashtags Wisely

You do not need to cram every hashtag you can think of in one post, but you do need at least a few. also know about Y2mate

The hashtag is a symbol # followed by descriptive words about your image as in this example, I used #marketing and #ctaconf, which was a conference I attended at the time.

When a user clicks/taps a hashtag or writes a hashtag into the search box, it displays all images that use that hashtag. The user can also subscribe to continue following that hashtag.

Hope the user will see your photo, understand your profile and great status, follow you and join your other posts!

However, when hashtags become more popular, the competition for results has intensified. Similar to SEO keywords, the more popular a word is, the harder it is to stay on top of search results. So, my example of using #marketing was actually in vain if I wanted to get any draw on that post.

You want to make your hashtags relevant to your business and location, but also get involved enough that a user can type them in an Instagram search box.

For example:

• It says you have a pizza joint in Vancouver. You are posting a picture of your Pepperoni pizza with the hashtags #VancouversBestPizza #NicolosRestaurant #DeliciousDeepDish

• Or you are a Toronto wedding planner. You post a photo of the bride and groom’s first dance with the hashtags #TorontoWeddingPlanner #LoveWins #WinterWedding

Holidays and special events are a great time to grow your business and gain Instagram followers. Whether it’s a sale on Black Friday, a Thanksgiving-related use of your product, or a product that you advertise on National Dog Day, they are all good opportunities to showcase your business style in a non-commercial way.

2. Thank Your Audience for Showing Yourself

You don’t just post a bunch of photos and hashtags and wait for the likes to come in.

To gain Instagram followers, engage with your audience and increase sales or lead, you need to set a time.

So if someone leaves a comment or question in one of your posts, take the time to reply and thank them / answer their question.

Check out their profile, and if you like what you see, follow them.

Businesses often follow the commenters first, hoping that they may reciprocate the favor.

You can also look for people who might be interested in your product, then comment on their photos and/or follow them, but don’t spam them by asking them to follow you right away.

3. Contact the Right Influences

Influencers are Instagram users who can influence your target audience by their popularity and/or following social media.

Danielle Bernstein is a great example of a promoter who has worked with a brand. You may not know his name, but 1.8 million followers of his Instagram account WeWoreWhat do.

Bernstein and FIJI Water have teamed up to build BodyWoreWhat, a marketing campaign that provides 8-minute exercise videos with him and his personal trainer.

But do not give up. From bloggers moms to local food lovers, you can always find someone to be followed by your audience, who likes or recommends it. Maybe they’ll agree to review your product or take a picture and use it – use your imagination!

4. Don’t Just Stop Selling Your Products

Instagram is not a place to simply share product photos all the time. Think about how people feel about using what you have, or the benefits it offers.

Even better, show real examples. Requesting user-generated content from your audience is one way to do this. That means users have shared their photos using the hashtag you provide.

The online furniture store Wayfair.com excels at user-generated content. They have a user-generated campaign that allows customers to share photos of their stylish Wayfair-filled homes using the hashtag #WayfairAtHome.

Be sure to let people know that their photos may be included on your page and you can expand your Instagram content for a long time – for free!

No matter how you use Instagram in your business, be realistic and be true to your product. It’s about the forum, and it will help you grow your business, gain Instagram followers and attract sales or leads.
